The 7th Annual Colorado Conference on Volunteerism (COCOVO) is being hosted in 2008 by the Western Slope DOVIA (Directors of Volunteers in Agencies) organization. The conference will be held April 22-24, 2008, at Two Rivers Convention Center in Grand Junction, CO.  We are pleased to have the opportunity to present this state-wide conference here on the Western Slope of Colorado.  The last time COCOVO was held in Grand Junction was in 2002.   

The COCOVO is hosted in Colorado by the various DOVIA organizations around the state.  The purpose of the conference is to create new contacts, take advantage of new ideas and to share talents and expertise around the subject of volunteerism and community service. 

The conference is held in a different region of Colorado each year to allow for variety and to make it possible for people that work with volunteers from all parts of the state to attend.  The most recent locations for the conferences have been Fort Collins (2005), Denver (2006), Colorado Springs (2007) and now Grand Junction in 2008. 

FACTS ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

• The 2008 Conference will be the 7th Annual in the State.
• DOVIA organizations in Colorado host and put on the conferences.
• There are between 250-350 attendees from Colorado and surrounding states each year.
• Topics we focus on are ones like progressive views, future paths, trends, ethics, professionalism, service learning, and leadership around the subject of volunteerism .
• Service Learning is a national program that offers a unique opportunity to America’s young people --from kindergarten to university students-- to get involved with their communities in a tangible way by integrating service projects with classroom learning.
• Grand Junction is a beautiful location for this conference.
